The HEARTWALKER PEACE PROJECT, an ongoing series of walks through cities around the world, is a volunteer organization creating and fostering a global community with peace and cooperation as its foundation.
The goal is to weave Peace, Love and Compassionate Power into our lives by connecting with others from different cultures, backgrounds and faiths in order to discuss and discover creative alternatives to war, violence and greed.
By walking through different cities and engaging with people on the street, we can reach others who share common values and beliefs and begin to weave an international community of Heartwalkers – citizens of the world who feel motivated to foster peace, generosity, education, human rights, civil equality and a healthy environment for everyone.
Heartwalking lets others who share similar views of the world know that they are not alone.
Our belief is that it is possible to effect enormous change on a grassroots level, and that our small efforts will have an ethical, economic and political impact on a national and international level. Change begins with one person taking action.
Heartwalker Peace Project started with one person. Where can we go from here? The world’s streets – and every beating heart – are our only limits…
Joe Weston, founder of the Heartwalker Peace Project, began Heartwalking in 2003 in various cities after having a vision of a world where people get up and connect on the streets with others in a powerful and compassionate way.. The inspiration for this project grew out of his Buddhist values, most importantly, a firm belief that peace can be invoked one step, one person, and one walk at a time.
Joe Weston is a life coach and teaches workshops internationally in creating personal and global empowered peace. In 20Born and educated in New York, Joe lived in Amsterdam for 17 years, coming in contact with people from various cultures, and working with companies and individuals around the world. He now lives in California and is committed to helping others embody spirituality. Joe brings a wealth of insight to his work based on many teachings, including Tai Chi Chuan, Tibetan Buddhism and other spiritual traditions—plus his experience in theater and various organizational trainings. As initiator of the Heartwalker Peace Project, Joe connected others who share similar views on peace and violence. He also volunteers for the Liberation Prison Project, teaching Buddhism to inmates.
